“….and it’s always February 2nd, and there’s nothing I can do about it!”

Good news for all those into the idea of celebrating made-up holidays like Flag Day or Chanukkah. Today is February 2nd, which means it’s Groundhog Day, that special day on the calendar where the national media focuses in on an over-sized rat in an irrelevant town in Pennsylvania. Anyone who graduated from kindergarten knows the deal; if the groundhog sees his shadow, we have six more weeks of winter, and if he doesn’t, spring blooms pre-March and Al Gore makes another documentary. In case my sarcastic-enthusiasm isn’t coming off strong enough, let me reiterate; Groundhog Day is Dumb, and anyone who actually believes a beaver-wannabe named Punxsutawney Phil (a drug-dealer nickname if there ever was one) can predict the weather probably should have been beaten publicly by a sex-starved nun a long time ago. The only true reason to celebrate this fictional holiday is that Comedy Central will usually just put Bill Murray’s Groundhog Day on repeat.

If there is one thing I have learned about living with my roommates’ cats is that you can never quite expect what they are going to do next. Cats are very unpredictable. Sometimes they’re nice. Sometimes you get the death glare. Other times you’re left with several meows and a big looming question mark. No matter what mood they’re in you are in for an interesting experience and plenty of entertainment.

The web cartoon Simon’s Cat never ceases to amaze and entertain me. Every episode explains through antics exactly what it feels like to put up with these fuzzballs of fury every day. And you can’t help but find them adorable even when you know they don’t deserve praise. I guess that’s the life of a cat- mischief that’s encouraged or ignored. It must be nice to lead such a life.

My favorite episode is ‘Let Me In.’ In this one Simon’s cat is desperately trying to get his attention to let him back into the house. Chaos and hilarity ensues.

If you enjoyed this episode then look at some of the others on his page. Whether you are a cat lover or a cat loather, you are guaranteed to find your personal favorites. There’s a little bit of daily entertainment for everyone.

I know what many of you are thinking. This blog is called Entertain Me Daily, and there is nothing even remotely entertaining about Garfield, until now. Lasagna Cat videos have been slowly taking the nation by storm. These YouTube artistic masterpieces usually consist of someone physically acting out a Garfield 3 panel sketch followed by a surreal music video. Somewhere in the flyover land of Utah, an indestructible cat exists. I thought it was just a myth, like the cat in that one Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode that Dennis  takes a liking to. But it’s true; there is a cat that cannot be killed. And her name is Andrea.

You have a man who’s name is synonymous with a body fluid cocktail(Santorum, google it), you have a guy who thinks Ben Bernanke is a traitor and up until recently was open to his state seceding from the country. If you aren’t a knuckle dragging mutant you may not realize that this weekend is the annual Gathering of the Juggalos. Each year fans of the “musical” act Insane Clown Posse gather to drink an obscure soda called Faygo, listen to music and perhaps sexually assault an internet super-star. (more…)

Okay, it’s not really terrorizing the city, but the workers at the Bronx Zoo still have no idea where this 20-inch Egyptian cobra is. The snake has been missing since Friday and the reptile exhibit remains closed.
