Tim Gunn Is Rich, Stylish, and Celibate

On Tuesday the Project Runway star told ABC that he hasn’t gotten laid in 29 years! Don’t throw a pity party for Tim Gunn just yet. He says he’s completely fine with it.
Gunn told the talk show The Revolution, “I haven’t had sex in 29 years. Do I feel like less of a person for it? No. Not even remotely,” to which he received much applause from the audience. While I fully respect and admire his decision, I can’t help but wonder how okay with it he really is. Gunn stated the reasons for his celibacy are rooted in psychological issues from a past relationship.
I was in a very intense relationship for a long time. And my partner ended it, saying that, quite frankly, he was impatient with my sexual performance.
Someone telling me I’m bad in bed would certainly screw up my own self-esteem and I’d retreat too. Thirty years ago was also when the AIDS epidemic first hit, which also played a factor in Gunn’s chosen abstinence. He preferred a long healthy life, with impeccable style, over cruising the gay nightlife scene.
At least I can attest that being single does give you more time to focus on yourself and not be clouded by relationship woes and drama. Kudos to you Tim Gunn, for your pristine suits, your snazzy ties, and resisting the urge to hump anything with a pulse. If only the rest of us were so lucky to have your strong will.
