Damn You, Marc Cohn.

Damn You, Marc Cohn.

“Walking In Memphis” should be illegal.

Why?

For starters, it’s pretty much the cheesiest song ever written.

It’s sung by a Micheal McDonald sound-alike, which is a whole separate musical crime.

And anyone who’s ever been to Memphis knows that the last thing you should be doing is taking a leisurely stroll around town, while wearing fancy blue suede shoes (unless you want them jacked).

Seriously Marc Cohn, have you ever been to Memphis? Memphis is a great town, full of awesome blues bars, barbeque joints, and homeless people–and none of that was even mentioned in his stupid song. And the album won a Grammy! Really, America?

Well, Marc Cohn is at it again. I haven’t heard his new album, “Listening Booth: 1970″ but I’m sure it’s going to be chock full of musical travesties. It’s a cover album and Cohn is slaughtering such classic songs as:

Simon and Garfunkle’s  ”The Only Living Boy in New York”

Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed”

John Fogerty’s “Long As I Can See the Light”

Cat Steven’s “Wild World”

The Boxtop’s “The Letter”

And I read an article that he was toying with the idea of covering something of Neil Young’s but decided against it because all of his songs are already “perfectly recorded”.

Thank you for that, Marc Cohn. You can ruin all those other songs, give Memphis a bad name, but don’t bring my beloved Neil Young into this mess.

Not for the faint of heart…
