SHREK IS KILLING CHILDREN!
4 Jun
Yeah, you read that right. But don’t worry. McDonalds is here to rescue them.
The fast food company is recalling their new Shrek glasses, trying to bring back up to 12 million that have already been distributed.
The reason for the Shrek glass recall? Apparently the picture of Shrek on the glass contains Cadmium, which is an extremely toxic metal. According to Good Day New York!, Cadmium has been known to cause several different types of cancer, kidney damage, bone damage (at least they offer milk!), and if that wasn’t enough, teeth discoloration.
I’m not really sure why FOX felt a need to mention Cadmium causes teeth discoloration, as clearly anyone who has been exposed to the toxic metal has more to concern themselves with than the state of their smile.
Personally, this writer is puzzled as to how a thing like Cadmium gets on a children’s glass. At what point in the making-paint-process does one say to oneself “Whelp, better get all my ingredients together… dyes, water, thickers, dispersants, and a CANCER CAUSING POISON. Yep, looks like I got everything I need right here.”
On a different note, McDonalds has announced that any customers who insists on continuing to use the cup should be comforted by the fact that it’s still healthier than the KFC Double-Down.

I actually read this in the news recently and thought it was funny. For some reason I started thinking 20 years into the future and imagining myself sitting in a chair watching the news hearing “And just today, 4 more reports of ‘Shrek Cancer’ have arose. It seems the cadmium cups have struck again. And all for a very disappointing 4th movie in the series…”
