MTV Movie Awards 2010: Ken Jeong, Sandra Bullock, and some other people.
7 Jun
I accidentally watched some of the MTV Movie Awards 2010 last night. Listen: It was late, I was tired, and I’d already finished indulging in a pirated copy of Sorority Row—which was amazing, by the way.
Anyway, based on my 40 minutes or so of view-age and some exhaustive Googling, I’ve prepared a rundown of the night’s events, in case your copy of Sorority Row was still running:
Language! It’s weird—I’m never really sure anymore of MTV’s target age group, but the awards seemed a little zany this year, for lack of a better word, almost like I was accidentally watching that Kids’ Choice business on Nickelodeon. Which made it especially surprising to see the presenters and winners dropping the f-bomb left and right, especially since the censors allowed more than a few of the obscenities to pass. I mean, I love cursing. But I still hope someone gets in trouble.
Ken Jeong: Winning an award for Best WTF Moment (see? zany!), Ken Jeong—who is a licensed doctor, by the way—offered an unexpectedly moving acceptance speech about how his Hangover buds Bradley Cooper and Todd Phillips helped him cope with his wife Tran’s battle with breast cancer. Jeong ended the speech in tears, announcing that his wife has been cancer-free for two years.
Twilight: Won five awards. I don’t care.
Sandra Bullock: Bradley Cooper, Betty White, and a totes-unnecessary (as always) Scarlett Johansson presented Sandra B. with a Generation Award, which would have been really annoying if we didn’t still feel a little sorry for her regarding the whole ruined marriage debacle. Still, Bullock handled it well, thanking everyone for the recognition but asking, modestly, that we all “go back to normal” and return to mocking her stupid movies. She also gave a shout-out to the Gulf, which was nice.
Amanda Seyfried: My favorite weather-predicting Mean Girl won the Best Scared-As-S*** Performance award for her role in Jennifer’s Body, which I still really want to see. Accepting the prize, Seyfriend was kind of adorable, admitting that she really enjoyed making JB, even if nobody saw it.

Hello! Just want to say thank you for this interesting article! =) Peace, Joy.

I’m impressed, I need to say. Really hardly ever do I encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you’ve gotten hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is one thing that not enough individuals are talking intelligently about. I am very pleased that I stumbled across this in my seek for one thing referring to this.
